Our journey began with a simple goal: to find the perfect German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). We were looking for a dog with high drive, a strong work ethic, natural cooperation, confidence, and true versatility in the field. After extensive research, we found that the bloodlines meeting these standards were located primarily in the United States. That’s when we welcomed our first GSP, Mixon, into our lives—and immediately fell in love.

From that experience, Westrock Kennels was born. Our mission is to bring exceptional hunting genetics and quality bloodlines from the U.S. to Canada. We are committed to ethical breeding practices, with the goal of producing top-tier GSPs for Canadian hunters, handlers, and families.

Our GSPs are more than just hunting partners—they're family. They live in our home, share our daily lives, and are raised to thrive both in the house and in the field. We believe a well-bred dog should be calm and dependable indoors, yet driven and focused in the field.

While genetics lay the foundation, training and clear communication are key to creating a balanced, obedient companion. We are passionate about helping you and your dog develop a strong relationship built on trust, leadership, and mutual respect.

To ensure we’re always growing and improving, we’re actively involved in the Alberta chapters of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA). Through NAVHDA, we test and evaluate our breeding and training programs, share our knowledge and volunteer within the hunting dog community. This involvement helps us maintain the high standards we set for every dog that comes from Westrock Kennels.
