Westrock Kennels is located within the Foothills County on a rural 7-acre property, approximately 5 minutes east of High River, Alberta.
Our facility is directly attached to our home with limited kennel spots available. Being a small kennel allows us to have personalized one on one time with every dog. When a dog boards with us, they are treated like a member of our family. Our kennel spots are available for short-term and long-term boarding year-round. Our kennel and property are set-up for the intake of medium and large breeds only.
We specialize in caring for high energy dog breeds with high exercise needs. Dogs are adequately exercised off leash as they run around the fully fenced property, swim in the pond (weather permitting), play with other dogs, or spend one on one time with Steve or Marissa.
Please note that prior to boarding with us, we require proof that all core vaccines as well as Bordetella (Kennel cough) will be up to date for the duration of the stay. Please refer to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) guidelines or speak to your vet to ensure your dog is fully protected. Please email these records to steven@westrockkennels.com.
Please click the button to review and complete the Training and Boarding Waiver. This must be completed prior to boarding at our facility.
If you cannot find an answer to your question, and would like to further discuss our boarding services, please schedule a telephone call through our online booking platform

No, we do not have a discounted rate if you are boarding multiple dogs or if you prefer they share the same kennel stall.
Yes, we board puppies as long as their vaccines are fully up to date.
Yes, we board intact males and females (sometimes). If you have an intact male, they will be separated from other males at all times to mitigate unwanted behaviors. If you have an intact female, you must disclose when her last heat cycle occurred and when her upcoming cycle is due. Because of cycle timelines, we cannot guarantee/ accommodate dates close to her cycle as timelines often vary. If she is young and has not yet had a heat cycle, we can tentatively confirm boarding services. However if she starts to show signs of heat approaching prior to her booking, shows signs upon arrival to our property, or during her stay, you or an emergency contact will be asked to pick her up immediately. We cannot accommodate females in active heat whatsoever as this is disruptive to the operation of the kennel.
We follow the "2022 AAHA core and non core vaccines for dogs" guideline which is what our Veterinary office follows. We require all dogs to be up to date on their DA2PP (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza), rabies, and bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines prior to boarding.
We recommend you bring your dogs current food with them for the duration of their visit. However, if you run out of food or are looking to trial different food, we can provide Purina pro plan sport dog 30/20 at a rate $5 per day.
Yes, we accommodate raw diets. However, it is mandatory to have each feeding (including supplements and additives) pre-portioned into individual labelled freezer safe bags. These will be stored in the freezer and dethawed prior to the feeding. If you feed kibble, please only bring the bag of dog food and leave any unnecessary supplements or additives at home.
